Why Does Every Animal Love the Capybara?
Walk through any zoo with capybaras and you'll notice something peculiar: other animals gravitate toward them. Rabbits press against their flanks. Birds land on their backs without hesitation. Even species that would normally avoid each other seem to declare a truce in the capybara's presence. Hot Spring Capybaras of Japan
Every winter, a group of capybaras at Izu Shaboten Zoo in Shizuoka Prefecture gets a special treat: a yuzu-filled hot bath. This tradition, started in 1982, has spread to zoos across Japan. The capybaras soak in steaming outdoor pools decorated with citrus fruits, seemingly in a state of profound contentment.
